ABOUT Heinz Bentele:
Heinz Bentele (1902 - 1983) was active in Germany and was widely known for his religious sculptures. He studied at the Kölner Kunstschule (Cologne School of Arts and Crafts), and later studied under Wallner in Vienna. His bronze sculptures have become highly sought after by art, antique and religious collectors; with pieces selling through Christie’s, Bonhams and other auction houses in London and Europe.

Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone, known as Francis of Assisi, was an Italian mystic, poet and Catholic friar who founded the religious order of the Franciscans. Inspired to lead a Christian life of poverty, he became a beggar and an itinerant preacher.
