C. 1860, Ash and Elm, Stickback Windsor Chair (English).
A mid 19th century, Windsor armchair, from the Thames Valley region, hand crafted from ash wood, with a solid elm seat.
The chair has a horseshoe-shaped hoop-back connected by turned spindles, shaped arms and turned supports. It stands on turned legs united by a traditional turned crinoline stretcher.
(Seat height: 39.5cm)
CONDITION:
Structurally solid. Signs of a minor historic repair to the arm (see photo). Chair has slightly twisted over time, which adds to its charm and character. Overall a great chair with particularly good patina. Very practical and comfortable.
