20th Century, After George Stubbs, 'Baronet With Samuel Chifney Up', Horse & Jockey, Large, Framed Oil on Canvas (English).

Signed: 'Steel'

The painting depicts the celebrated racehorse Baronet with the Prince of Wales' jockey, Samuel Chifney. The horse's owner was the future King George IV (then the Prince of Wales), who reportedly won over £17,000 in bets from Baronet's 1791 victories. Stubbs captured Chifney's distinctive riding style, characterized by being seated far back in the saddle with relaxed reins.
