19th Century, Wood Carved, (Regent Street, London) Millinery Head (English).

This solid wood, wig or hat stand was likely hand-carved in London, circa. 1850. What makes this particular millinery head rare and unique is the R.St stamp on its forehead, and base.

This handsome antique wooden hat block would have originally been used to make and shape hats or wigs on Regent Street, London, which was arguably then (and still today) one of the most high-end destinations for tailored clothing; with its grand architecture and elegant shops.

It's rare that you can pinpoint which city, or even which country, most millinery heads originated; so to be able to place this one in London, and having survived two world wars, is very rare indeed.
