In this skilfully carved lamentation scene, Saint John and Mary Magdalene mourn with the Virgin Mary over the crucified Jesus Christ.
 
Italian Renaissance aesthetics of anatomical definition and idealised facial expression are combined with late gothic drapery patterning.
